Hope and Care Outreach's Education Director, Mr. Paul Brandt speaks about the educational challenges and Liberia. But with every challenge lies huge potential opportunities to be Jesus' witness in sharing hope!

Thank you Southeastern District, LCMS for your partnership in the work God is doing in Liberia.

America and Liberia share a unique history in the birth and development of the Republic of Liberia. And now, through Hearts for Jesus, we can be involved in the development of future Christian Liberian leaders. As we raise funds for tuition assistance this year, hundreds of impoverished kids will have the opportunity to attend one of the 21 Lutheran schools in their community.

A typical child growing up in rural Liberia will:

Follow the African Traditional Religion
Not have access to education, even public school

But God is making a way through Liberian Lutheran schools to break the chains of illiteracy while mentoring students to become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

But God, is doing something wonderful for His glory!

Deepen Your Students Impact

Get connected to a Hope School in a tangible way, to heighten the impact of His work through students here and there. We have a variety of ways you might connect with Liberian students, staff and schools:

Chapel Connect - Online connection with student worship leaders for a cross cultural chapel exchange. Share Scripture readings, Apostle’s Creed, Praise. dance or Lord’s Prayer.

Pen Pal - Comparable grades exchange ongoing questions, topics, ideas, prayer requests and praises by email. (1st grade Liberia to 1st grade in US, 7th to 7th, etc.)

Class Connect (MS and HS) Similar to Pen Pal but through online live forum. Another option is to create and exchange videos, removing the challenge of weak internet and time difference.

God's Word Not in Chains - Visual Aid Fundraising Goal Visual

Paper Chain Countdown 5 x 7 poster

As a tangible visual aid in connecting your students to the students in Liberia you might consider using the Paper Chain Project. You set your own goal and increment for each chain. Every time you reach the increment cut a link of the chain away. We suggest attaching your chain(s) to the kids posters as a way to visualize the bigger goal.

There are 8 different kids posters including a photo, first name, and their favorite Bible verse are available for download in 3 various sizes.
