African Radio Ministries and Hope and Care Outreach merged in 2024. We unite in glorifying God as we share the Gospel and God's hope, through the local churches in Ethiopia, Liberia, and Guinea.

African Radio Ministries (ARM) is glorifying God through:

The Power of Mass Media The Gospel is shared through radio broadcasts of Lutheran worship services in eight dialects in Ethiopia, Liberia, and Guinea.

Prison Ministry in Ethiopia Utilizing a local network of EECMY pastors to share the Gospel, provide discipleship, and distribute Bibles and relief aid within the prisons.

Training Disciples of Christ involves a close collaboration with the Lutheran churches in Ethiopia (EECMY) and Liberia (ELCLS), along with regional theological seminaries, Bible colleges, and LCMS pastors. We focus on raising up the next generation of Lutheran pastors especially in rural areas.

Ethiopia: Worship Christ Evangelism Ministry, WCEM

WCEM operates out of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, serving as a field office for African Radio Ministries. They focus on:

Broadcasting Lutheran worship services and teaching across the region.

Training of Pastoral Candidates: Collaborating closely with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) and regional theological seminaries and Bible Colleges.

Prison Ministry: WCEM utilizes a local network of EECMY of Ethiopian pastors who are sharing the Gospel, providing discipleship training, Bibles, and relief aid within the prisons.

Liberia: Evangelical Lutheran Church Liberia Synod, ELCLS

Training of Church Leaders: In Liberia, ARM collaborates closely with the Evangelical Lutheran Church Liberia Synod, ELCLS. In the 80's, before the 13-year civil war, the LCMS missionaries serving in Liberia trained roughly 100 men and women church leaders. Despite war, hunger, disease, and displacement, those church leaders united and planted churches, forming the ELCLS. Today, the ELCLS consists of 120 churches, 200 pastors, and 5000+ baptized members. The biggest challenge remains theological training for church leaders.

Rev. Dr. John P. Juedes and Dr. Victoria Littlefield-Waufle of the PSD-LCMS have been instrumental. Over the course of four years, Rev Juedes’ method of trainer-trainee sessions has led to nearly 1000 pastors, evangelists, deacons, and other church leaders to receive Biblical training.
ARM partners with the ELCLS to send pastoral candidates to CELTS, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary in Sierra Leone.

The ELCLS broadcasts in four dialects and into four nations. The listeners are encouraged to gather around the radio to hear the Word, pray, and praise Jesus. ARM radio programs are unique in that they are intended to develop listening groups, which then become preaching points and congregations.At the end of the program, contact information is given so that listeners can connect with the local pastor, request prayer, or a home visit. They are also given information about nearby Lutheran churches whenever that is possible.
